If we had to wager a guess with respect to Adam Kimmel’s recent viewing habits on Netflix, our pick would be repeated streaming of the 2001 cult classic Super Troopers. The lookbook for the designer’s co-branded collection with Carhartt for Fall/Winter 2012 reveals an aesthetic clearly inspired by the typical state trooper’s uniform. Kimmel commissioned the one and only Ari Marcopoulos to act as both photographer and model, noting that Marcopoulos has the right kind of intimidating presence for the role. The looks — complete with trooper hat and mirrored shades –feature a slimmed down silhouette as compared to previous collections, with durable fabrications that fit within the work uniform sensibility, at the same time paying tribute to Carhartt’s rugged heritage. New York City-based Isaora has only been around since 2009, but the technically proficient brand has succeeded in making a name for itself in that short span. Keys to its growth was recognizing a deficiency in the marketplace for beautifully sleek designs that meet rigorous performance demands, as well as a thorough understanding of its customer — a “global citizen with a taste for adventure.” Isaora’s lookbook for Fall/Winter 2012 continues the brand’s impressive run, presenting down-filled jackets, technical shells, insulated button-downs and thermal knits, all finished in a tasteful neutral color palette dominated by blacks and greys.
