EASTPAK x Christopher Shannon – Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

British designer Christopher Shannon has been working with EASTPAK for a few seasons now, and thus far, the sporty, color-blocked renditions of backpacks worked out in a mix of materials have been quite a hit in both the high fashion and the sportswear industries. Christopher Shannon is known taking sportswear to a refreshing level and fluidity with a bold prints, cheeky concepts and an innovative mix of materials. Last year, going along with the retro futuristic and mixing sci-fi with a little late 90s Versace opulence in polyester shell track pieces, and an interesting layering of trompe l’oeil chain-printed tees with matching pants and stark white pieces, Christopher Shannon throws in added doses of high street urban comfort with Reebok Hi-tops and a collaborative collection of accessories done with EASTPAK.
EASTPAK is renowned for its innovative and durable luggage and day pack collections, and has been a strong staple for travelers, students and athletes alike. For the past few years, EASTPAK has been stepping outside the comfortzone of outdoor and sporting products and injected a refreshing dose of energy with progressive, contemporary designs. Some designers the label has worked with include Raf Simons, and now Christopher Shannon is enlisted on-board with the EASTPAK special collections crew.
This year, Christopher Shannon continues his good work with EASTPAK but added a little more textural depth to his collaborative collections. The collaborative Fall/Winter 2010 collection had just hit retailers such as oki-ni, and some original EASTPAK silhouettes such as the Pak’r has been reworked in grey nylon and quilted in some panels to mimic the looks of a puffy jacket. Aside from the Padded backpack in a mix of cool minty colors thrown in with pops of pinks and purples, there is also a more voluminous (24L to be exact) Assault Back Pack which is perfect for overnight trips.
As with previous collaborations, expect these to go quite seamlessly with Christopher Shannon’s eponymous collection!”
