Lanvin for H&M Designer Collaboration 2010

Apparently, the teaser videos from H&M were smoke and mirrors, though, some of the more talented and perhaps, psychic, might have figured out H&M’s designer collaboration for this year will be with French luxury house, Lanvin. Spearheaded by creative director Alber Elbaz and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, Lanvin will be joining the ranks of designers before such as Sonia Rykiel and Jimmy Choo to launch a select, limited edition collection for H&M.

The interesting thing about this collaboration is how Lanvin decided to join in the collaboration crowd. Elbaz’s motivations are slightly different from previous collaborators, and they have hopped on because this project is about “H&M going luxury, rather than Lanvin going public,” according to Elbaz. Also, for those who are acquainted with Elbaz, the designer had previously rejected the idea of mass-market collaborations.

Lanvin’s collection for H&M will deliver the luxury house’s luxurious French heritage and tradition, but it will also be very much modern and playful. The collection will reflect Lanvin’s design, cut, tailoring, with a lot of focus on form and details for both women and men.

The collection is set to launch on November 20 in North American, and November 23 in the rest of the world. Approximately 200 H&M stores around the globe will be carrying the collaboration. Stay tuned for more detailed images of the collection to be revealed as we near the launch date in November.
