Fashion’s Night Out 2010 – Opening Ceremony x Ace Hotel – “A Parisian Flea Market”
With 1300 events going on in the city of New York last night, Fashion was indeed having a field day on one of the most anticipated annual global shopping gala, Fashion’s Night Out. Juncture ran about town, and made a pit stop at Opening Ceremony’s “A Parisian Flea Market” at the ever rustic-hip Ace Hotel. The fanfare took up the entire lobby of Ace Hotel, as well as the street right in front. For “A Parisian Flea Market”, Opening Ceremony enlisted the help of a number of friends from both New York and Paris (keeping in line with the recently announced “France” theme) to set up booths and display their goods just like in a flea market. Labels such as agnes b (whom Opening Ceremony has a collaborative collection with), Keds (collaboration as well), Alexander Wang, Rodarte and Jean-Paul Gaultier all showed up with their goods to market for the shoppers looking to swipe their credit cards into the night.
We have spotted Humberto Leon and Carol Lim at the event, as well as some interesting products. For instance, the Keds x Opening Ceremony France Edition sneakers created in collaboration with artist Richard Saja were available for purchase at the event, as well as the collaborative capsule collection created with Parisian retailer, colette. Jean Paul Gaultier has not only brought out his signature nautical striped t-shirts, he has also hand-picked a selection of one-off pieces specially for the event. Alexander Wang’s booth didn’t carry merchandise like it did last year, but it was holding a raffle for a rucksack from the collection, and there were Chinese-themed trinkets and goodies such as little gift boxes packed in Chinese take-out boxes for sale. While every booth is draped in twinkling lights, Alexander Wang’s booth was illuminated by rows of traditional red lanterns.
Outside, Baohaus supplied chow for the evening, and there was a special colette truck carrying the capsule collaborative collection as well as the colette x Darcel Disappoints iPhone 4 Incase Slider Case. Check out a quick recap of the event, and stay tuned for more fashion week galore to come!
