Okay, let’s face it. No matter how much we admire Thom Browne’s original creativity and timeless designs, not everyone of us can pull off the “school boy from The Alps” look without a passerby snickering at our Peter Pan syndrome. Thus, there is the Brooks Brothers Black Fleece by Thom Browne, a sub-label designed to the tune of an everyday man looking for something extraordinary, or a Thom Browne fan wanting something for the everyday. Of course, this being Brooks Brothers, there that eventual staple of the Mad Men-esque grey flannel suit. But the collection is dotted with intrigues and specialties, thanks to the well-trained eyes of Mr. Browne. A bewilder looking Houndstooth Cardigan feels right at home with a Mini-Houndstooth Cut Away Jacket, a crimson Toggle Coat layer upon Wool Plaid Trousers and Cardigan, and so on. What was once deemed clash of colors or patterns now harmoniously appear side-by-side. No wonder there is such reverend for Browne.
