Milan Fashion Week – Moncler Gamme Bleu – Fall/Winter 2011

All eyes wondered around the Centro Ippico Lombardo just outside of Milan’s city as they filled in the indoor horse track. As they scanned the horizon for any inklings of a runway, 5 riders on horsebacks, dressed in Moncler riding coats, summoned the start of Moncler Gamme Bleu show for Fall 2011 on the backdrop of blaring trumpets.

It seems like Major Tom landed on Earth finally, Major Thom that is, as American designer Thom Browne showcased his upcoming collection for Moncler Gamme Bleu. Juxtaposed against the dirt covered riding arena, preparation was underway for a very untraditional fox hunt – models in houndstooth overalls, quilted suits, rifle patches on down jacket, and those signature Thom Browne of cropped blazers with shorts. Colors came in the form traditional tweed, Glen Plaids, grey flannels and the vibrant Stewart tartan, some in the audience, however, had difficult focusing on the fashion. Instead, the attentions went to the models’ escorts instead, packs of excitable beagles and basset hounds (each with their own Thom Browne tri-color dog leash), who completed the fox hunt theme with their “atta boy” attitudes.
