Nepenthes New York ‘El Condor’ Collection

Nepenthes New York El Condor Collection

Nepenthes New York recently opened their doors to their store in New York. Home to the Engineered Garments brand you’ve seen on our site, the store offers high end garments that are hand made in New York. This “Condor Collection” is exclusive to the Nepenthes store, and it features a “jean” jacket, a four pocket vest, and three different bags–a double-flap bag, a tote, and a small purse. Crafted of premium yellow leather, the items have a distinctively Southwestern feel with large monochromatic stitches on hems and borders. With braided leather handles and Western-styled tassels, the bag have a feel that is both distinguished and rugged. You may contact the store directly with questions, or better yet, if you’re in the NYC area, head to their store on West 38th Street to pick up some truly unique items.

Beams+ – Penny Deck Camo

Beams+ Penny Deck Camo

Beams+ brings some much-needed life into the Deck Loafer-style shoe with this pair that opts for a camouflage upper. While many are wearing rolled-up chinos and plain black or brown Sperrys, these will inject a bit of intrigue to what has become a hackneyed style. This camo-style model also rejects the traditional deck sole and instead includes a vulcanized sole in brown with an olive green band that compliments the colorway of the upper’s canvas camo. Tan contrast stitching reveals the middle portion above the toebox and the heel. The white insole has the Beams+ logo in gold and the inner lining is also a fine leather. Crafted in limited numbers, these iconoclastic shoes are available now at Tres Bien.

Bleu de Paname – Spring/Summer 2011 “Apache” Collection

Bleu de Paname Spring/Summer 2011 Apache Collection

A favorite upstart brand of ours, Bleu de Paname of France, hasn’t let up in their offerings of workwear-inspired garments. While many brands look to keep it close to the vest with Chambray workshirts and Engineer Jackets, Bleu de Paname isn’t afraid to take a few risks, as is evident here in their “Apache” collection for Spring/Summer of 2010. The collection includes a 13.5 oz denim shirt/jacket, fold-over chinos, and 6 oz. denim oversized-pocket jeans. The cuts on this pair remind us of Engineered Garments’ naval chinos, as there is a larger rise to add a bit of vintage feel. There are also denim shorts, miner jeans, and some more traditional offerings like 14oz. selvedge denim in raw and three other washes. The overall feel is that of a brand that’s not looking to follow along with the other parasitic workwear brands. You can view the lookbook for yourself in all of its full-screen glory here.
