OUTLIER – 60/30 Shorts

OUTLIER 60/30 Shorts

Outlier again impresses us with their technical innovation and fashion-forward designs. They recently released their pivot shirt and slim dungarees as warmer-weather items with form and function, and now, with the mid-70s just around the corner here in NYC, Outlier releases their 60/30 shorts. Named from the composition of 64% cotton, 29% nylon and 7% elastane (it was coined in homage to Sierra Design’s 1968 Parka). The fabric also has a NanoSphere® self-cleaning element, water resistance, and dirt resistance, along with a four-way stretch. Inside, the cotton fabric has soft linen pockets for comfort when moisture and heat get dangerous. These are now available at Outlier’s online shop, so head over and snap up a pair of shorts that are ready for the hot summer months in the city and even some spontaneous pool hopping in the ‘burbs.

Post-Vintage: A Conversation with Takeshi Ohfuchi of Post O’alls

Post Vintage: A Conversation with Takeshi Ohfuchi of Post Oalls

In the crowded workwear scene in men’s fashion, the untrained consumer may not easily spot differences between, say, a J.Crew chambray workshirt and a Buzz Rickson’s 1940s original. Finding a western shirt in a second-hand shop is no real feat, as anyone who’s dug through a box or two at a Salvation Army or a Goodwill store can attest to, but unearthing a Woolrich John Rich Bros. 6 pocket cruzer from the 30s takes a trained eye and a lot of sifting. Akin to a producer like DJ Shadow who spends hours in used record shops playing dusty unmarked 45s on a portable record player to mine a sample for his next track, Takeshi Ohfuchi of Post O’alls can spot details like a detachable ring button on a mid-30s Super Pay Day brand jacket and use that blueprint for a design on his own brand’s Engineer’s Jacket.

OUTLIER Future Classics – Northeast Slim Edition

OUTLIER Future Classics Northeast Slim Edition

Outlier represents what we here at Juncture like best–well-executed classics with modern twists. We showed you the wonderful details in the supremely-constructed Supermarine sneaker made in conjunction with FEIT, and now Outlier is releasing two staple items–a chino and button down shirt. But, true to form, these are not just slim cut items that look to ride the neo-prep train. The Slim Dungarees are crafted from doubleweave canvas, which should get you through your rounds as a cyclist or factory worker, but still keep you crisp for a dinner meeting. The pivot shirt is not your average oxford, it’s a Spain-sourced cloth crafted with range and flexibility in mind and will allow full range of arm motion while still looking clean. Both items are meant to keep the wearer free to work and sweat without compromising his look or feel in the heavily-breathable garments. Outlier promises that these items will both be practical and durable a decade from now, so head to their shop and start breaking your dungaree or oxford in now.
