Tenue de Nîmes x Naked & Famous Skinny Guy

Tenue de Nîmes x Naked & Famous Skinny Guy

Out in the Netherlands, Tenue de Nîmes has made world-class denim for years. Naked & Famous, Canada’s own whimsical denim designers, has been known for making jeans so stiff that they can stand on their own, literally. The two just collaborated on a one-of-a-kind, limited run of detail-obsessed denim. Weighing in a 13oz, this selvedge is an army repro green that is the result of serious research. The color is meant to evoke vintage army garments, while the pocket bags use a Montreal-made, ripstop material used on the jackets of members of the armed forces and firefighting squads. The leather tab is a 10oz leather often employed in making horse saddles. And to top it all off, these are limited to a hand-numbered run of 24. Head to the Tenue de Nîmes site today to secure your pair and strut through the summer with a pair of jeans no one else will have at the cookout.

Nanamica SS12 at Pitti in Florence

At Pitti Uomo in Florence, the North Face’s sub-project, Nanamica, previewed offering for next years Spring/Summer collection. We love the brands at Pitti Uomo, and last season’s show, which featured the Fall/Winter lines, was amazing as well (you can view our report here). With the absolute highest attention to tech-forward fabrics and timeless styling. For Spring/Summer ‘12, the Tres Bien blog features an amazing tonal-printed three pocket field jacket with a detachable hood. Another bright yellow coat feature fireman metal clasps, while a longer khaki overcoat with harrington-styled slanted pockets also looks to boast the Gore Tex treatment. A stadium jacket with a shawl collar is another standout which will certainly turn some heads. Stick with us for more on this exclusive sub-division of a world famous maker of weather-tested gear.

BDDW Furniture Company

BDDW Furniture Company

Right here in the heart of New York City lies a gem of a furniture maker. BDDW is the brainchild of painter and sculptor Tyler Hays. The pieces are sourced from domestic trees and are hand finished with natural oils and lacquers. In a range of selections from rugs to tables and chairs to shelving, these pieces pay homage to artisanal techniques while adding a modern sentimentality.  Head over to their site to get a sense of their range of amazing work, and if you’re in the Big Apple, be sure to head to the store front to see these pieces in person. via the 189

Jansport Heritage Backpacks

Jansport Heritage Backpacks

Maybe you used to carry a Jansport backpack while listening to Black Moon and Jeru the Damaja, but the backpacks that defined a generation of hip-hop listeners has certainly expanded its influence even after the decline of the music. Decked in the cordura fabric that came to make Jansport the most popular backpack company at one time, this Heritage line recalls classic models built for durability and flexibility. The blue Westbridge pack has side pockets and antique brass zippers with a trademark leather bottom with an ice pick loop. The two colors of the Hoss pack, in green and retro orange, has features like a throwback logo from 1967, a top-loaded compartment, and front and side gear pockets. These are the bags that made people feel secure while scaling mountains, and they will certainly snap necks on the subway as well. You can scoop up these two models at Oi Polloi.

Sugar Cane Sun Surf 3/4 Sleeve Hula Oxfords

Sugar Cane Sun Surf 3/4 Sleeve Hula Oxfords

Japan’s Sugar Cane Brand has released two 3/4 sleeve oxford shirts under the Sun Surf imprint of their brand. Perfect for these warm days ahead,  a white oxford and a blue oxford, both of which have hula dancers and palm trees throughout, are now available to add some pop to your summer wardrobe. With the sleeves a perfect length to roll up without a huge stack of fabric near the elbow, the shirts have a snug fit with a high quality fabric and premium Japanese construction. The blue model is dyed with natural plant-based dyes, but we’re assuming not that of a palm tree or coconut. These won’t last long, but head to Self Edge to grab yours before you see someone else wearing one.

Filson Italia Historic Shirt

Filson Italia Historic Shirt

Filson’s made in Italy black label line constructs garments from the finest materials and with a craftsman’s attention to detail. This chambray workshirt is nothing like the models you can find at J. Crew or L.L. Bean nowadays. Nothing against those renditions, but this shirt ups the ante with its pristine design. There are four pockets, each a different size, spread through the front of the shirt. Contrast stitching marks the three-button neck placket as well as the pockets that would have held an engineer’s or a miner’s tools. Filson does Americana quite well, and with the combination of Italian craftsmanship, this garment is definitely a winner. Grab one while there still available at Oi Polloi.
