Levis Made & Crafted Fall/Winter 2011 Collection | Preview

Levi’s Made & Crafted is in its second season of a line geared towards heritage garments. This collection offers the Made & Crafted approach to the work shirts in colorblocked and solid colors, sticking to a basic formula that 158 years in the business will provide. With their broad range of seeing trends live and die, this line is aimed at making construction a primary goal over trendiness. The multi-colored chinos should blend well with whatever else you have as options for the fall and winter, as should the Engineered-Garments-like field coat with four external pockets. Previous releases from this Levi’s imprint have been made with exceptional quality, as the name would suggest, and it appears that the fall and winter will be no different.

adidas SLVR – Fall/Winter 2011 Campaign | Video

adidas SLVR Fall/Winter 2011 Campaign | VideoGerman designer Dirk Schoenberger is now at the helm of the fashion-forward SLVR extension of adidas. He said of the line, “I want to seduce with a pure, functional yet designed product, an unexpected and innovative piece of simplicity and modernity.” If the video after the jump is any indication, Schoenberger took that approach to new heights in the F/W ‘11 line. With looks distinctly European in nature, like blazers with diagonal zippers and long, belted trenchcoats, this adidas line is light years ahead of the simple shell toe and warm up suit. With both mens and womenswear options, this line also features some aggressive options for the feet, as would be expected from the brand with three stripes. Check the ethereally-soundtracked video after the jump to get a feel for the cooler weather options from SLVR.

Burkman Bros. Fall/Winter 2011 Illustrations

Canadian-born Doug and Ben Burkman have crafted a line that has focused on wearable pieces that aren’t scared to step forward in what can be a drab menswear scene. And to signal their individuality, the duo has chosen to forgo the typical lookbook approach, and instead go with the fashion school-style sketchbook, but in an updated digital illustration approach. From what we gather from the illustrations, camouflage makes a statement in fitted vests and trousers, while modern takes on the Fair Isle sweater and aggressive plaids stand out as bold patterns amongst an otherwise earthy palate of options.  These pieces, in their physical state, will be available at world-class retailers like Dover Street Market, Liberty – London, L’Eclaireur – Paris, Antonia, Interno 5 – Italy, Sportivo, Oak and Santa Eulalia – Spain. To see the line, head to their site or do your best to extrapolate the look based on their illustrations after the jump.

Barneys New York Launches Adam Kimmel x Carhartt | Video

To celebrate the release of the collaboration (which we previewed months ago) between American workwear legend Carhartt and Adam Kimmel, Barneys housed a unique installation space that involved live, well… installation. Artists George Herms and art collective Paintallica got out the power tools and torches out for an exhibition at Barneys to provide an atmosphere of sawdust and flying metal-shards for a workwear brand where many of its wearers often see many of the same conditions. Party-goers had a chance to personalize tree trunks with designs of their choice while viewing the pants, jackets, hats, and t-shirts in the collection. Barney’s also offered free-flowing Pabst Blue Ribbon guzzled out of gas containers, proving that some on hand may have ignored the warning to not operate machinery while consuming alcohol. The collection is still available at Barneys online, as well as at the freshly-constructed installation.

A Look Inside Unionmade

A Look Inside Unionmade

The Bay Area is home to some great men’s shops, and Unionmade, nestled in the Mission and Castro neighborhoods, has carved out a niche for itself as a forerunner. Todd Barket and Carl Chiara, two veterans of the garment industry opened up shop in 2009 with the intent of offering premium, long-lasting, trend-free goods that are meant to last for decades. With brands like Alden, Billy Reed, Alden, Filson, Nigel Cabourn, and many more, the shop holds items found in very few shops around the world. With a throwback feel in the non-pretentious space, the shop has become both a neighborhood mainstay and a destination for menswear shoppers. via Well-Spent.
