Milan Fashion Week – Marc Jacobs – Men’s Fall/Winter 2012

Milan Fashion Week Marc Jacobs Mens Fall/Winter 2012

Marc Jacobs channeled two very incongruous influences — ’90s skate culture and Istanbul — for his Fall/Winter 2012 menswear collection. The former is evidenced in the application of technical materials and a general nonchalant attitude, as seen in the shoe-lace belt. The latter comes through in the paisley print and groovy colors — an explosion of mustard yellows, pea greens and coppery browns. The silhouettes may lean toward contemporary, but the details recall vintage shop finds for the discerning eye. Don’t be fooled, though; there are ample details that speak to a hidden luxury, with plenty of cashmere on hand and the appearance of a beaver lining on a seemingly nondescript bomber jacket. It’s an eclectic mix of old and new, with an appealing thrown-together feel that belies a very deliberate sense of style.
