British premium luggage maker Globe-Trotter has partnered with menswear designer Mohsin Ali on a limited collection of luxe suitcases. The range comprises the 13″ Mini Utility, 18″ Slim Attache and 18″ Air Cabin Case, all carrying the sort of clean, elegant aesthetic that’s the hallmark of Mohsin Ali’s designs, and featuring Globe-Trotter’s handmade construction techniques that have remained intact in the company’s 115-year history. The Edwin brand was founded in 1947 by Yonehachi Tsunemi, who crafted his nascent company’s jeans by importing denim from the United States before he started production on his own line of premium denim. A look at the brand’s Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook reveals that Edwin has similarly imported the best of traditional Americana, blended with its own unique vision. The upshot is a collection made up of cold weather essentials like shearling-lined jackets, cable knit sweaters, zip hoodies and beat-up washed denim. These are no-nonsense, straightforward looks that are at once rugged, elegant and also very cool. See more in the gallery below.

H.W. Carter & Sons is one of the oldest apparel labels in U.S. history, having been founded in 1859 by Henry W. Carter in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and eventually establishing itself as the premier maker of work wear in the Northeast. The brand was recently resurrected thanks to creative director Greg Chapman, and he and his cohorts have unveiled the lookbook for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2012 range. The 32-piece collection takes inspiration from workwear of the 1920s and ’30s, with standouts taking the form of the belted Mackinaw Coat and Three-Piece Ticketmaster Suit. The good are rugged, durable and made in the U.S.A., featuring denim and duck canvas pieces crafted from Cone Mills fabric and wool outerwear lining sourced from Woolrich. Boxing is sometimes called the sweet science, indicating that pugilism has its roots as a gentleman’s sport, informed with strategy and finesse and not simple brute strength. So it’s fitting, then, that Opening Ceremony’s lookbook for Fall/Winter 2012 is modeled by lightweight boxer Eric Ramos, conveying the collection’s light touch and easy wearability, as well as a deliberate sense of pacing. Shot by Todd Jordan, the looks showcase traditional cold weather fabrics like Melton wool and mohair in somber olives and greys, contrasted by pops of red and navy on a toggle coat and nylon anorak. Standouts include the blackwatch trench and hooded utility jacket in a custom camo print. See more from the lookbook in the gallery below.

Two brands at the top of their respective games have joined forces on that most prosaic of carryalls, the humble tote bag. White Mountaineering’s design acumen — represented here by a block-lettered statement expressing determined resolve — is combined with Porter’s premium construction. Crafted from heavyweight cotton canvas, the bag has an interior zip pocket for accessories, as well as an extended strap that allows it to be worn over the shoulder like a messenger bag. A discreet Porter label on the lower right corner finishes the look. The printed messenger tote bag, available in a white or black colorway, is in stock now at oki-ni.
