Stone Island, one of our favorite brands just opened the doors to their Paris store on June 24th. Housed on 316, rue Saint-Honoré, the store’s future-forward design looks like a space capsule, which is no accident considering the brand’s commitment to research and technology. The ceilings and walls gleam white, while the garments on the racks often feature a similar luminescence. Design features include a stainless steel marine floor and carbon and fiberglass elements that provide the lighting. Check out the new store and explore a space that matches the ambition of the garments sold within.

To further the experience of authenticity, sound engineers recorded each machinery running on the background and introduced them at different intervals on the soundtrack. Raeburn also asked the workers themselves to model the product and take pride in their workmanship. Gareth Pugh, the designer on many a luxury houses “ones-to-watch” list, made his debut at Italy’s Pitti Uomo with a beautiful fashion film. The film, created by Ruth Hogben, captures the intensity and sense of drama that this young designer has already mastered. After following Pugh’s career over the past several years and seeing the fashion film he showed at the last Paris Fashion Week, the directors at Pitti invited him to show there. Pitti is known for it’s openness to experimentation and the mixing of art with fashion. The 10 minute film merges religious iconography and futuristic imagery to create a spell-binding experience. The garments are sharply angular or flowing and billow in the wind. The final scene is a group of still figures all in white, which then multiple and fill in screen, like a digitally-enhanced version of a renaissance statue. Pugh’s sense of showmanship is apparent, but seeing garments worn by models at the film’s presentation proved to many how wearable and desirable his clothing is outside of a fashion spectacle.
