Representing the fashion forward arm of the trefoil brand, adidas SLVR has unveiled a video offering a taste of what’s to come from its Spring/Summer 2012 range. Shot by Willy Vanderperre, the clip is infused with a retro ’80s feel, thanks to its quick cuts and lo-fi effects, plus the stark black and white footage that gives way to vivid pop colors. The collection takes inspiration from fencing, drawing parallels between the tailored pieces and crisp white uniforms, as well as the focused precision of the sport itself. The concept is subtly expressed — that this a collection not meant for sport, but of it, and in an arena where artistry counts. Check out the video after the click.

Our Legacy’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, entitled “A Constellation Within,” contains pieces linked by a common theme and specific vision, coming together to create what the brand calls a “personal mixtape.” The result is range of styles that bridges the gap between formal and casual, traditional and new, tailored and relaxed. Suiting comes with patch pockets to maintain a laid back aesthetic, while fabrics are washed and faded for a comfortable, lived in feel. Like any good mixtape, the different components form a cohesive whole, but each piece can stand on its own as well. Click through for a video overview of the collection.

Carhartt WIP presents its Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook, showcasing a collection that’s short on surprises but full of the quality essentials we expect from the brand. There’s plenty of color on hand to go with the warmer months ahead — as seen in the short-sleeved yarn-dyed button-down shirts in solid or plaid variations, as well as knit V-neck sweaters and tees — and reliable standbys like the slim-fit Sid Pant. The overall presentation is bound up in classic American heritage looks: varsity jackets and a strong fleece program highlight an appealingly laid back collegiate aesthetic, while camo print and water-repellent materials evoke the best of military and work wear. Click through for a comprehensive overview of the Carhartt WIP Spring/Summer 2012 lineup.

Mark McNairy is riding high. His extensive footwear collaborations include Engineered Garments, S/Double, and Keds, and on top of his worldwide acclaim for bucks and brogues, his New Amsterdam collection enjoys a whimsical sensibility. With tiger, panther, and zebra prints, polka dots, and even smily faces, there is a bold, pop-culture approach to the collection. Along with the animal prints, there are both large and small camo prints to add some interesting texture to these well-cut items, including shorts and fatigues. The more formal end of the line has sport coats and heritage-striped ties. The New Amsterdam imprint will prove to be a more aggressive-prep to counter his lines with Woolrich Woolen Mills, which have a distinctly outdoor appeal.

At Pitti Uomo in Florence, the North Face’s sub-project, Nanamica, previewed offering for next years Spring/Summer collection. We love the brands at Pitti Uomo, and last season’s show, which featured the Fall/Winter lines, was amazing as well (you can view our report here). With the absolute highest attention to tech-forward fabrics and timeless styling. For Spring/Summer ‘12, the Tres Bien blog features an amazing tonal-printed three pocket field jacket with a detachable hood. Another bright yellow coat feature fireman metal clasps, while a longer khaki overcoat with harrington-styled slanted pockets also looks to boast the Gore Tex treatment. A stadium jacket with a shawl collar is another standout which will certainly turn some heads. Stick with us for more on this exclusive sub-division of a world famous maker of weather-tested gear.

A favorite upstart brand of ours, Bleu de Paname of France, hasn’t let up in their offerings of workwear-inspired garments. While many brands look to keep it close to the vest with Chambray workshirts and Engineer Jackets, Bleu de Paname isn’t afraid to take a few risks, as is evident here in their “Apache” collection for Spring/Summer of 2010. The collection includes a 13.5 oz denim shirt/jacket, fold-over chinos, and 6 oz. denim oversized-pocket jeans. The cuts on this pair remind us of Engineered Garments’ naval chinos, as there is a larger rise to add a bit of vintage feel. There are also denim shorts, miner jeans, and some more traditional offerings like 14oz. selvedge denim in raw and three other washes. The overall feel is that of a brand that’s not looking to follow along with the other parasitic workwear brands. You can view the lookbook for yourself in all of its full-screen glory here.
